I want to trade my Olympic bronze medal for a place in Chelsea squad – Mikel

Super Eagles of Nigeria captain, John Obi Mikel has come out to make a shocking statement, he revealed he wants to swap his Olympic bronze medal with a starter in the Chelsea squad.

Mikel says he regrets going to play in the tournament, after it cost him a place in the Stamford Bridge side starting line up.

Since after leading the Nigerian U23 side as captain to win the bronze medal in Brazil he has been overlooked by Chelsea's new manager Antonio Conte.

Due to the way things are now, Mikel has now opted to trade his Olympic medal as he feels he made a wrong decision to go with the Nigerian team to Brazil.

He said,

“I have always been a guy who makes wrong decisions in life and this time i want to make things right.
“It's obvious the new manager is upset because i left during pre-season to represent my country.
"He thinks i care more about the national team but that's not true i so much love Chelsea.
“But since i have been training hard the manager won't change his mind. I have discussed with a starter in the team and he is ready to swap his starting shirt with my Olympic medal."
“As a man one thing you have to do in life is when you make decisions, you must have to deal with it.So i don't regret doing this".
